Adam, street portrait

Taking a portrait, I've learnt, requires collaboration.

This man's name is Adam. He was at the Queen Vic market hawking the Big Issue, and he has to be the most outgoing, entertaining and energetic vendor I've met yet. Full-on ring leader/MC step right up step right up kinda deal. I didn't want to interrupt him while he was doing his thing, but luckily I came back later and found him having a cigarette break. I sat next to him, offered him a donut (long story ) and before I knew it we had been talking for 20-30 minutes.

When he was ready to get back to work I shook his hand and asked if he'd mind if I took his portrait. He said sure! - put his hat on, held up a Big Issue next to his face (it was stuck to a broomstick) and gave me a big cheesy grin. Err. I let out a sort of laugh, and was like, mate, c'mon what're ye doin, put the sign down. When he realised I didn't want a campy tourist type shot his demeanour changed. He gave me a real genuine smile, and when we turned to face the light this is what we got.
